BATH
The spa town of Bath (World Heritage Site) is located west of England
and is one of the five most visited cities in the country.
The most important in Bath are the Roman thermal baths fed by
three hot springs. Dating from I to V centuries, they were built
on springs whose waters spring at 46 ° C. Although the baths
were used until 1979, currently are not used, not only because
they were used for years as numerous drainage pipes, but also
because during the Second World War high levels of radioactivity
in the water were detected. Although today it is not, never used
again. Next to the old baths are other modern ones that can be
used.
The rest of the city is also very interesting. Its streets, squares
and especially the surroundings of the cathedral are very colorful
and have many bars, shops and street life. Bath also has many
museums worth admiring.
There also are many activities to do outdoors. The Bath Baating
Station is a unique Victorian boarding station where canoes to
surf the river Avon can be rented by the hour. In the Bristol
Zoo Gardens one can enjoy the animal kingdom and the Avon Valley
Country Park is a riverside park with rides and pets.
It is also possible to rent a balloon and admire the views over
the city and its surroundings.
